Martie is an online shopping platform on a mission to make quality goods accessible and affordable for everyone, while keeping perfectly good products out of landfills. Every day, millions of dollars worth of products from brands people already know and love never make it to shelves, not because they're bad, but because of a date on a label, a packaging update, or a simple forecasting error. Martie intercepts that excess and turns it into an opportunity for shoppers, for brands, and for the planet.

Martie works directly with brands on their overstock inventory, bringing high-quality pantry staples, beauty, and home goods to customers at up to 80% off retail. Featured in The New Yorker, The Strategist, and Eater.

Open positions

  • Position Type: Full-time | Location: Los Angeles or San Francisco (Hybrid) | Reports to: Head of Marketing

    The Role

We are hiring a Growth Marketing Lead to own how Martie acquires new customers. You will run acquisition strategy and execution across paid and emerging channels, steer the funnel, and build a fast-test-to-scale engine that finds what converts and moves spend behind it.

This role owns the growth function. You set the channel roadmap, call the tests, and carry the numbers. You do it in close partnership with and under the direction of the Head of Marketing. This is an individual contributor and player-coach role, in a scrappy startup (read: opportunities galore!).

    What You'll Own

    • Creative growth ideas. Bring creative, out-of-the-box growth ideas to the table and turn them into tests. We want someone who generates new ways to acquire customers, not only optimizes what already exists.
    • Paid acquisition, end to end. Meta and Google as the base, plus active diversification (see below). You own strategy, execution, CAC, and the budget mix for an already robust program.
    • Channel diversification. Brainstorm, stand up, and scale new channels such as newsletters, podcasts, connected TV (CTV), partnership placements, etc. Assess constantly and scale what's working.
    • AEO/GEO readiness. Prepare Martie for answer engine and generative engine optimization (AEO/GEO), positioning the brand to be found and cited by AI answer engines as they grow into a real discovery and acquisition channel.
    • Creative for new ads. Work closely with brand, designers, creators, and AI creative platforms to generate new ad concepts and keep a steady pipeline of fresh creative feeding the tests. Comfortable in the creative briefing process, not just the media buying.
    • Experimentation and conversion rate optimization (CRO). Own the A/B testing roadmap and cadence across creative, audiences, and landing pages, and drive the concept-to-live landing page process with Design, Site, and Data, tested against every brand and paid campaign. Report learnings weekly.
    • Analysis. Read and act on acquisition reporting and CAC by channel, analyze what's driving results, and turn the numbers into decisions.

    What We're Looking For

    • 5+ years in growth or performance marketing at a DTC or e-commerce brand, with direct ownership of paid acquisition and an acquisition budget or P&L.
    • Team player mindset who gets the value of brand. A passion for deal hunting is always encouraged!
    • Concrete, in-the-weeds depth. You can walk through tests you ran, what you learned, and what you changed.
    • Fluent across paid social and paid search, product catalog ads, landing page testing, and experimentation. Comfortable owning CAC and funnel metrics.
    • AI-native. You already build AI into your creative and testing workflow and want to push it further.
    • Strong familiarity with SEO and emerging AI search, and a sense of how brands get discovered and cited by AI answer engines (AEO/GEO).
    • Curiosity and flexibility to work in a startup environment.
    • Based in LA or SF.

    Nice to Have

    • Track record standing up channels from zero, and optimizing mature ones.
    • Grocery, CPG, or beauty category experience.

    Comp and Logistics

    • LA or SF, hybrid.
    • Reports to the Head of Marketing.
