Welcome to the Martie Party!
We are Louise and Kari, co-founders of Martie. In 2021 we started Martie to fight food waste and make quality accessible to the masses. But, how did we get here?
There's plenty to go around, it's the going around we need to solve.
Before Martie, we launched several good-for-you food brands with early success (yay!). Sadly, we also discovered firsthand the complexities of our food system. We saw the billions of pounds of perfectly good food and supplies that end up in landfills, due to operational inefficiencies or a lack of technology being applied in areas where we knew we could help.
Access to (quality) food has a room to scale
In the US, 30-40% of food goes to waste, even though most of it is perfectly safe to consume. And with over 38 million food insecure Americans, we thought to ourselves, what if we solve one problem (food insecurity and accessibility) by solving another (unnecessary food waste)?
With Martie, we’ve created a new business model, offering quality food at a great discount. We’re guided by the belief that we can help reduce unnecessary food waste and be a force for good in people’s lives–helping you to save money, and save the planet at the same time.
As moms, we juggle a lot of plates.
We knew that to make shopping at Martie a pleasant and easy experience was important to us and we always ask the questions, but is this fun? We hope so!
Saving the planet doesn't have to feel like work or be boring - we've all got enough on our plates, but shopping Martie should always leave you feeling good.
We are only as good as our ingredients.
We are glass-half-full people. We are here for the planet and we are committed to changing the food system one basket at a time. Heck we even think we can make it fun!
Shop smart, do your part.
We mean it when we say, "it's good to have you here." Without Smartie shoppers like you, and our dedicated brand partners, we wouldn't be able to do our part. So, welcome!
