Martie: What’s the mission behind Bolton's Naturals?
Linda: Health! In today’s world and our society, so many of us are worn out, and depleted and if we were honest, we aren't living at our optimal health. We are told to accept and settle with our aches, pains and stiffness. More and more people are learning about the role magnesium plays in many of the vital processes in our body. This sole supplement can bring us overall better health than just about anything. Our mission is to provide world-class magnesium products while giving away the profit to in turn help those in poverty around the world.
Martie: How did the idea come to life for Bolton’s products?
Linda: After 10 years of being the Canadian distributor for Natural Calm, my husband and I saw the potential of creating and formulating a line of transdermal productions that would acutely apply magnesium. More and more scientific studies were surfacing showing the impact magnesium had when taken topically. Linda had already known and seen tremendous success growing Natural Calm Canada. To add a transdermal, topical product was a great solution to expand ways to benefit from this incredible supplement.
Martie: What’s your favorite Bolton's Naturals product?
Linda: What a great question! Unfortunately, I can't stick to just one. It depends on the reasoning for the product. Recently, it has been the spray though. It is 50% magnesium and 50% ocean water, benefiting from over 80 minerals from the sea. We are constantly getting emails and testimonies from people seeing incredible benefits from our spray. Earlier this year I was at a trade show and a woman ran down the aisle and immediately came up and hugged me - catching me awkwardly off guard. She was teary-eyed and told me that for the first time in decades, she is sleeping properly. I could see how moved she was. She said that she started spraying her feet with Boltons Naturals Spray at night and it was transforming her life. Nothing makes you feel better than that.
Martie: Why Magnesium? Who is it for?

Martie: What has been your biggest “aha” moment when building Bolton's Naturals?
Linda: I don't know if I could say there really has been an ‘aha’ moment. Rather, it has been building a social enterprise company with a frame of mind and lens bent towards impact, not dividends. It's in our fabric and DNA to give. It has been such a great experience when this has been our driving force. In turn, we have been overwhelmed by the success of our company. I will say that along the journey, I have met some of the most incredible people. It feels like our vendors, suppliers, retailers, designers, contactors and everyone involved are not just transactional relationships - they are truly partners. We feel so blessed that all the people and companies we work with support our mission, Thrive and want to be part of the impact.
Martie: Tell us more about your mission to give away 100% of profits?
Linda: This is my favourite topic to talk about! It's outrageous, right? I know it's a bold endeavour, but it means that much to us. I have travelled to well over 60+ countries and witnessed tremendous poverty. When I first joined our charity Thrive for Good and visited the training center in Kenya, I was shocked as I had never before seen people so healthy. I was in communities where people make less than $2 a day and they were healthier than you or I will ever be. At Thrive, we empower people with the training and simple tools they need to grow an abundance of healthy, organic, disease-fighting foods for life, sustainably. Today we are working in 20+ countries helping over 200,000 people by training them to grow their own healthy food. It's incredible to think that our company plays a role in this huge impact. Every time we sell Boltons Naturals products100% of those profits go to these community projects.
Martie: What’s in the pipeline next for Bolton's Naturals?
Linda: We have looked at a variety of new categories to infuse magnesium into. This includes deodorant and hair products. Also, we are hoping to add an aloe vera line in the coming future. But for now, our targets are set on having our products available to more and more US retail stores. We have seen tremendous success in Canada and want to ensure that health conscious consumers everywhere can get our products.
Martie: Why is working with Martie important to Bolton's Naturals?
Linda: When I was first introduced to Martie, I LOVED the concept. I have a strong value for being a sensible consumer in terms of waste. Given how many times I have travelled abroad over the years and the work we do through our charity, waste is not an option, even if profits and margins are threatened. Martie shares these same values. It has been an incredible match of shared values and has provided Bolton's Naturals a great place to provide our products to consumers introducing them to the impacts of topical magnesium.
